Having tried Moosedrool for the first time last December, we fell in love. This was my first non-canned extract batch and it came out great. I took the recipe I found on a site that sells kits and modified it with a recipe that my LHBS had.

7.25 lbs of light LME
0.5 lbs of Carafoam
1 lb of Crystal 80
0.5 lbs of Flaked Oats
0.25 lbs of Pale Chocolate
.12 lbs of Roasted Barley
1 oz of Kent Goldings - 60 mins.
1 oz of Liberty - 25 mins.
1 oz of Wilamette - 15 mins.
Danstar Windsor yeast
OG - 1.061 (I hit 1.054)
FG - 1.015
ABV - 5.9% (I hit 5.3%)
Cost per 12 pack - $7.31

Heat 1.5 quarts of water to 160 degrees. Steep Carafoam, Crystal 80, Flaked Oats, Pale Chocolate and Roasted Barley for 30 minutes.
While steeping, begin to heat 2 gallons of water. Add the steeped water to this pot, fill with more water to get to 2.5 gallons total.
When hot but not near boiling, remove from heat and add pale LME, stirring as you add it. Pour some of the hot water into the LME container, swish it around, to get all of it out.
Heat water to boiling.
Add Kent Goldings hops.
Boil 35 minutes, then add Liberty hops.
Boil another 10 minutes, add Willamette hops.
Remove from heat.
Place in sink full of ice and water, bringing temp down to 100 or so.
Split between two LBKs evenly (each with 1 gallon of refrigerated water in it).
Add cold tap water to bring to 2.5 gallons.
Aerate, check temp. In the mid 60s pitch Danstar, 1/2 packet in each LBK (I rehyrdated, then aerated wort again after pitching).

I made the AG version last year from the Northern Brewer kit. I enjoyed it.

I'm going to brew some up once temps drop and I get out of saison and patersbier mode. That will be after my temps drop enough to use up my WLP500, it's too hot for it still :(

I have been seeing Moosedrool bounced around this and THE OTHER forum a lot. Seems some love it and some despise it. Is this a clone? Am I right that it is a English Brown Ale?

I just bottled my Moose Drool clone tonight.

My FG was 1.20, so got 4.5%
I split a 5 gal batch and made 2.5gal in LBK

Recipe I got from ritebrew is darn near close, but a lil different.
Got 24 twelve ounces, just have to wait a few weeks or more until getting to try it.
The wort when bottled didnt smell all that great, so hope it turns out good.
