Ballast Point Home Brew Mart Homework Series #2

Post by swenocha »

Anybody gotten their hands on one of these? Interesting concept from Ballast Point... this is their Home Brew Mart Homework Series (#2 in this case... a Belgian Style Double IPA. 10% abv. 118 IPU. OG 1094).

It includes the entire recipe on the label, with detailed descriptions for all grain. A neat idea, and a winning combination and only $6 retail.

Not my pics... poached them from a FB friend...

Never even knew about this. Great idea that I wish I see for myself.

I see there's a cat interested in the recipe as well. :)

Pretty awesome they actually give you the full recipe with exact grains and hops and yeast. That grain bill sounds awesome, but I'm not so big on the hoppiness.

I rarely buy stuff like that when I can make my own, but I'd pay the money for those with the recipe included. That's sweet.

Everything I've read points to mash hopping and being a waste but since I've never tried it, it's hard for me to form an opinion. Some say it adds flavor and no IBU's others say its a waste.
Instead of me posting something about it here and hijaking this thread, I'll post some info I've kept around in a new post and we can maybe get some discussion going on it and who knows, you might get me to try it and give my opinion.
