Glad to see another brewer join the Beerborg!
To answer your question, No! Boiling the spigot / valve would most likely destroy it or at least warp it enough that it wouldn't seal correctly. Also it cannot be completely disassembled. To clean and/or sanitize it it is best to soak it in OneStep or StarSan.
Again Welcome!

Welcome! You came to the right place. I have managed to pull the stem out of the body on a spigot, and put it back too!

I have also. wiggle the valve while pulling the stem and the handle apart. ain't easy, but it will come apart. I take mine apart every time I use them and leave them that way 'till needed again.

Tiny screwdriver in the seam then bigger one in the opening you made pops it right apart for cleaning and sanitizing.

Welcome aBorg and thanks for the question. I have all but given up trying to take apart my LBK spigot as my Ale Pail spigot comes apart so easily. So I learned something today. Hate it when that happens on a Friday when I am trying to purge knowledge....

Well I have managed to get them apart not really that hard, but they do seem to be pretty flimsy.Where do you get better made plastic valve's i'v heard people talk of Italian valve's where do you find them. I really don't want to go the stainless route yet.

You can find the old style locking spigots on e-bay. Search for 3/4" water cooler spigot or something like that.
They come apart and are not as flimsy.
