Ever Heard of Radler Beer?

Picked up a sixer of this a few days ago. It comes from my favorite local brewery so I had to try it. It's pretty tasty. Here's a link to the beer itself:

And here's what I found about the style:

Like I said; It's tasty. But I don't know if it's something I'll buy a lot of. A little too fruity for me. And I mean that in the literal sense.

So is this sort of like a summer shandyesque beer?

Basically a Shandy...
Where typically a Shandy is Beer and Lemonade, a Radler can be the same or can also be a beer with lemon or lime soda, lemon lime soda or even ginger ale...
Personally, I never thought I would like this style, but I was able to try a number of them this year (seems to be the year of the Shandy for me...) and I find them to be quite refreshing as a summer thirst quencher!
From Wikipedia:
The Radler (literally "cyclist", which refers to its reputation as popular sports drink) is a beer-based mixed drink (Biermischgetränk) with a long history in German-speaking regions. Consisting of a 1:1 or 3:2 mixture of various types of beer and German-style soda pop or lemonade, the invention of the Radler has been widely attributed to the Munich gastronomer Franz Xaver Kugler in 1922. However the recipe for the Radler had been mentioned as early as 1912.

Next time you got some lemonade around, throw a splash into a few ounces of something light, pilsener, kolsch, cream ale, altbier etc...
You might like it!
I thougt it would mess the beer up, be too sweet or simply 'too much' and thus overpower the beer.
But the ones I had were more like beer with a just a bit more than a bit of lemon... Not overpowering but definitely there.

I might give it a try next time I have a light beer, but I drink mostly dark or/and barleywines. I will try it though if I see a single in a store sometime just to see what the hoopla is about. Thanks

There used to be a bar near a friend of mine's place that would mix these themselves. They were perfect on those 90f+ days when we were helping my friend work on his house.
I have not sampled a Radler out of a bottle or can though I have to imagine it would be just as tasty.

Hey! Look at that! It worked. That's another brew from my fav brewery. A Berliner Weisse. This one was very, very tasty. Even at $10.00 a bottle I'll buy it again if I can find it.

We have just had a couple of homemade ones in the last few days and they are pretty good. We mixed a couple of our single hopped blondes that we didn't like the hops much stand alone with lemonade I had left over from a picnic.
