How Sad

Post by haerbob3 »

How Sad this is the truth of most North American made beers.

BEER ?
im Leben Geduld ist eine Tugend
in Brau-es ist eine Anforderung

in life patience is a virtue
in brewing it is a requirement

Apparently "college" and "tasteless" is the taste these people like in a beer. Shame.

I actually don't mind that other people like those. It means less people mooch my beer purely for the purpose of getting drunk.

Of course you should see the implosion of peoples minds when you explain to them that lite beer is the opposite of what you want if you want to get drunker quicker since they remove the calories by removing alcohol. I happened to be moving furniture with an individual today who was bragging about last nights conquest when he put away 36 Bud Select 55s. After looking it up and informing him it had the same alcohol as 8.5 Budweisers the bragging stopped.

But the full article has a few more interesting notes. The attempt of flavor in a Corona was not appreciated. Or Michelob Ultra has "good non flavor".

I don't care if they drink it or not but I find the reviews hilariously lame.

Miller Light has a "barnyardy" smell? Damn... give that dude an Orval Trappist. That will teach him the difference between skunked and barnyard.

Bud Light Platnum is "malty"... Hahahahahahaha.

I guess for decades, people have been told this is what beer is supposed to be, and herd mentality (along with economics, marketing, and other factors) just perpetuates it.

I'm with Mashani, in that I don't care if people drink it or not. We're all free to make our choices, and that includes making a poor choice.

The wording of the reviews are interesting, though. It's almost as if people are drinking light beer in pursuit of something that doesn't taste like beer.

I'm sure people who drink those beers would have negative comments about those of us who enjoy real hoppy or malty brews. To each his/her own. On an interesting note, I know people, who are still living their college days by drinking those beers, and bragging how many they drank. Some do prefer craft beers, but only away from "those" crowds.
You have to wonder what they were comparing those beers to to come up with the descriptions...

Unreal. Where else in the world is "tasteless" and "kinda smelly" considered a good thing? The people who drink these beers don't like beer at all. They just want to be a part of the image that the producers of those beers project in their ads.

I will gladly be the "uncool" guy sitting at the bar quietly enjoying my quality, full flavored, beautifully fragrant micro brewed beer.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

First of all, how can anyone put away 36 of any beer regardless of how weak it is? That guy has got to be an alcoholic and that's just sad. Can anyone say "Intervention"?

Living in a college town it seems that the goal of many college students is to remember as little of Thursday through Sunday as possible.

I would never be able to drink 18 beers in an evening. About halfway in I would probably have to take up permanent residence at a urinal.

Sad, indeed! Reminds me of the scene in Beer Wars where she has the three big light beers in a blind taste test, and self proclaimed "Bud Light" guys could not tell any of them apart.

Reminds me of this...

As others have said, on one hand I could really give a frip what anyone else drinks. On the other hand, I'd love for my fine local breweries to get the economic boost of them switching to their fine products though...

Me? If I want a lighter beer, I'm going here right now...
