Long time

Post by Beer-lord »

Haven't brewed in 3 weeks and it may be 2 more before I brew again. That may be the longest break in 3 years. Why? Don't know. Just not in the cards.
What should I do next? Do I need a poll? Nope, got tons of recipes lined up, just need to make the time.
Where are my priorities?

Almost there with you Paul. It's been 3 weeks for me also, but I have a Notty starter going. Going to do 10 gallons of the Centennial Blonde on Tuesday. Use the Notty for 5 gallons, keg that. And 05 for the other 5 and maybe rack it onto some fruit for a few weeks before bottling. Thinking of splitting 2.5 gallons each on to blueberries and strawberries.

I snuck a very early taste of the coconut IPA and it's very good (for me anyway). Gonna be a few weeks before I know for sure but I already like the yeastst.
It made me want to brew tomorrow but I just don't have the time. Maybe next weekend or the next.

Don't want to force things, just want to chill and enjoy the moment.

I think what you mean is:

I thought about brewing less this year because I'm trying to get back into better shape, but like Roger and others have noted - the more I workout the more I can drink so.........I brewed up a Cali Common the other day that is fermenting away at 60 right now. The last think I brewed before that was the RCE IPA so it's been a while for me, too.

Been 6 weeks and I'm itching to get back in the game, the holidays and work and not enough time in the day. Soon though, VERY SOON!

I feel the pain, not having the time... I brew 5 gal batches, only drink 12 or so a week, so I can go longer between brews than most of you. Not that I want to, I LOVE BREWING!!!

Lately, I've been averaging 2 or less a week. Been watching the waistline grow-grow-grow.... On a rare week I might drink 3 and feel like I cheated. A 2.5 LBC is lasting FOREVER... man... I want to brew so bad it's not funny. It's times like this living out in the middle of nowhere sux... no one to stop by and drink up my beer. I would give a case or 2 away just so I could have a reason to brew.... Any takers... you don't even have to chat... just take some brew with you..... takers????

Maybe sometime this week... hmmmm... going ice fishing today, tues, fri, sometime this week is the new years, that will take up a day or 2 with the wife.... yeesh... maybe next week. A new word I just had hurt my head... I thunk it was... procrastination... :o

I know the feeling. We try to brew every other week on our current schedule and it has been working out great. However, holidays and our boss deciding to not pay us until the 17th of January has put a damper on that schedule. I'll be glad when I am working for myself at some point. We were acquired two Septembers ago and every first of the year they come up with some new payroll system that shorts us money in some way, shape or form and try to justify it. Gets on my very last nerve when people mess with my money.

Right there with you guys. My goal was to brew once a month this year. Ended up being once a quarter...

Going to start the new year off right with a New Year's Day brew. Hopefully that gets me back on track.
Fermenting: Bucket 1 - Fresh Squeezed IPA; Bucket 2 - Empty

Kegged: Keg 1 - Irish Red; Keg 2 - Cream Ale; Keg 3 - Amber Ale; Keg 4 - APA; Keg 5 - Empty; Keg 6 - Empty; Keg 7 - Empty

Now that's a New Years Resolution I can get behind :)

Brewing more and more in 2014 that's for sure. Breaking in a lot of new equipment for the brewery so we will have more fermenters meaning we can brew more and have a place for the beers to go. Ordering a lot of grains here the first of the year to make sure we have plenty on hand when we are ready to brew.

My wing is still clipped and I'm watching the pipeline dwindle. It is a sad, sad thing. :(

I think I'm going to start practicing pouring plain water from kettle to fermenter and see if I can get my digit to cooperate so I feel like I can brew again.

We have the recipes slash shopping list ready and all fermenters and coolers are empty which is driving us crazy.

I know a bunch of our :borg: units have had to stop brewing for long periods of time for one reason or another and now I know what a bummer it is to go through.

Fortunately we don't drink a lot of beer in the winter.
