Excellent news!! I'm thinking of ordering one cascade and one northern brewer. Knowing that you have dealt with this company before, do they have any kind of guarantee that the rhizomes are all female? I've done research since last year debating whether or not to try a hand at growing hops and learned that if there are any male plants hanging around the females, the cones can become seeded and are not as desirable for brewing.

Phil, honestly don't know. I never asked and I don't remember getting literature with the hops. I had 2 hop rhizomes last year, because of the work I was doing in the yard I wasn't able to plant them properly. One (nugget) died the other (cascade) grew in a pot to about 6 ft but never got any flowers. That one I hope to transplant into my hop garden this spring. Maybe Glen and speak to your question better since he visited Arrowhead in the fall for the harvest. I also know that Evily bought some hops if she ever shows up again she might be able to help you too.

I don't know about a guarantee, but I walked every row during their harvest fest, picked till my hands were yellow and sticky, and never came across any male plants. I plan on ordering a few. Will give me motivation to build that pergola in the back yard for the wife (to use as a trellis...)

Awesome Leigh, thanks! I was just today checking out the yard and thinking about how great it'd be to grow my own hops, but not sure I can in this climate. A deal like this though is hard to pass up, I'll have to do my research.

Since these are deadly to dogs, can't just grow them anywhere. Are they deadly to deer? If so, I'd like to plant a few acres...

How about Rabbits? I'd love to exterminate all the little bastard rabbits who eat every f**king thing we plant in our back yard.

Keep in mind too that the first year will not be the bestest and they will not start coming into their own until year three. I've had many that did quite well in year two but the third year makes all the difference. So do not get disappointed if the harvest is minimal at first - it will only get better!

I'm sure Louie will check on it, but that looks like a server error to me. I haven't ordered mine yet either, so hopefully they will get it fixed up soon. I'll try later tonight and in the morning.

Thanks Louie. The disccount paid for shipping +, which was only $3 anyway. I ordered Galena, Willamette and Columbus.
Now to plan where to grow them. I have many ideal spots. I would love a trellis type overhang on the pool deck, but the wife hates the smell of hops....
