I don't necessarily agree with everything in the article but there are some good points made.

Maybe we need a "beer in the news" category here, I just posted a couple that made my eyebrows go up and this is another.

There has been a lot of posts, I think mostly in Brewhouse, that have sparked some very interesting conversation on the forum when the media discussed beer/brew issues.

Clearly this one is going to mushroom, if the media continues to follow it, into the big guys trying to bury, pressure or buy their smaller but popular competitors.

I wonder, if the true craft/micro industry can survive the bombardment at the same time that home brewing ( we are brewing clones more than buying ) is so prevalent?

I see that, on our forum, a lot of you still seek out and buy micro-brewed beers but the percentage must be smaller than than drinking beers you made.

These guys are under a tremendous amount of pressure and, with the exception of a few who have achieved infamy to the point that their state will support them are at risk.

Politicians love to spout small business support babble but they rarely come through and when unbelievably high golden parachute offers are made to executives they are rarely turned down.

Live with an economist- watch news - end rant :(
