Hi All,
I have a question for all you brewers. What do you think. My wonderful Wife bought me 1 of each of the Mr. Beer regular refills for X-Mas. I've looked at their recipe page and have come up with some pretty tasty sounding pairs. Some of the refills I'm going to brew as a 6 liter experiment.I've done this with the Patriot Lager already and it came out de-lish. Only got 14 bottles, but what the hay.My question is ,I'm going to use the Mr. Beer Stout refill and want to make a cherry stout.I was wondering if I could use non-carbonated cherry flavored water instead of regular water.Seems like a viable way to get cherry flavoring instead of using real fruit or the little flavoring bottles. Any advice or comments would be great. TIA Randy G.

Make sure there are no preservatives in the water, and if it is just cherry flavor and water, give it a try.

My guess is the cherry is infused into the water. So may only get a slight cherry aroma, and the stout flavor may cover up that also. You may want to add some more cherries, or cherry juice after primary fermentation is done. But it depends how much you want the cherry to come through. Any beer that I have had with cherry always has a cough medicine taste to me. I guess a bad childhood memory :jumpy:

yeah I was thinking it might be a way to get a flavor in a wheat. your right about cherry. most cherry drinks remind me of a smith brothers cough drop.
