Another victim of the beer wars or is this a good thing for Blue Point and craft beer in general?

That depends on what's done with it. If they stay true to production by BPB, it could be a good thing. If they do to it what they do to the others, meh, not so much. However, that just opens the door for a new Brew to chip in.

InBev always changes the formula as soon as they take a company over. why would BPB be any different?

I went on a brewery tour of Blue Point last summer. It was such a low key, laid back place. The beer is great. I hope AB lets them run things the way they see fit and doesn't interfere.

I think AB can't ignore the growing market for quality craft beer.

I hope there is no change, just a cash cow for CorporateBrew.

I'm sure they will find a way to cut costs. I won't mention what happened to a web site we use to know.

Excellent point and business as usual in corporate America.

I have never tried Blue Point Brewing, and I think it is sad they sold to ABIB. As far as whether it is good or bad, I have two thoughts. Bad, because they might try to change things. If this is not the case, then I don't know if there is a downside. I know, this is hard to say, but the one thing ABIB does have, its distribution. I am stuck in the middle of nowhere for another year or so, and if AB can help distribute Blue Point to me, then I have more options.

It is sad for me to say that, and I don't much care for AB and the other big guys, just trying to look for a positive, give the company credit where it is due, and hey maybe even spark a little debate. :muahaha:

Of course things will change. That is the whole point of buying a company and creating synergies. InBev has HUGE corporate contracts for the things they dont produce themselves so over time BPB will I am sure start migrating over to InBev malts and hops, and adjuncts will be sure to follow. To keep the campers happy I am guessing things will be status quo for awhile before the "lets just try THIS for awhile, we can always switch back" talks start beginning.

Can't really criticize them too much. If you were in there shoes and someone is offering you a lot of $, and probably secure your finical future, you may not be able to turn it down either.

Isn't that the American dream? Make something, get paid a butt load of cha-ching for it, move on to something else?
