ok so I got near to the end of my long rant .. read it .. shrugged and said 'why bother?' and deleted it all. i'll leave it at this:

realtors suck.
they are all slum lords.
this town sucks.

I hate my so called life and were it not for the fact that I'm married so my life is not my own, I would probably drink myself to oblivion. heh.. an alcoholic who makes his own poison.

ok rant over... I feel better now.. well.. not really but.. anywho..

carry on.

maintaining... just incredibly stressed. times ticking away before we end up homeless and trying to find a place that isn't a pigpen slum or doesn't cost more per month than I make in 2 weeks is proving daunting. gods I seriously need to hit the lotto.. or make lots more hobo wine. I could always move us back into an apartment but with really bad hypertension, apartment life nearly killed me last time. (came this close (makes hand gesture for teeny tiny space)) to having a massive stroke. we had incredibly bad neighbors at the apartment.

I am currently staying in a house temporarily because a relative was nice enough to let us take care of her house for a few months while her job has her assigned elsewhere. Looking for places to rent is extremely stressful but I am really starting to find humor in the insanity.

Realtors saying they don't provide square footage because it's just a number and doesn't mean anything.

The shear number of properties in my area that are being rented by good christian doctors on mission in africa.

People renting houses after they give up onthe realty company b7t just ignore the sign in tue front yard because they haven't had time to take it down.

Places that want to charge $7 per month to register your car with the HOA and another $25 per month to actually park but if you want you can pay both of those plus an additional $50 per month to get garaunteed parking.

I was getting really stresse out but then I realized it's just best to laugh at the crazy than let it take over my life. Hopefully you find something soon and try not to le it get to you too much.

Sorry for the typos this is why they still need to make hardware keyboards on nicer phones.

That's some crazy stuff. But then, I was just looking at some "common core" math examples... yeah. Ignorance on parade.

U looking to rent, or buy?

1) All realtors see when u talk to them is $$ signs. The more they can nail u for the more goes in their pockets. We got to know a couple during our searches.... or so we thought. Soon as they get it sold to you, they no longer want to know ya... only your $$ matters to them. Think... car salesman on a bigger scale.

2) Try telling them you want a home they would be proud to live in... LOL, there must be some really low standards as to where they are willing to live.

3) Any, no, ALL towns/cities suck to live in, just not yours. That's what led us back out to the country. Find a place 20-25 minutes out of town, the drive is calming, the town pollution/trash/crime, etc is no longer your problem, you can find better places to live. A comparable home in town goes for over 500k, on a postage stamp lot, yet we paid under 2, plus we have acreage to do what the hell we want to do, when we want to do it and no nosey eff'n neighbors to bother us.

Good luck in your search. What we found while searching is that for what your rent is, most times you can also buy a home, only you will own it in a few years. Moving sucks, no doubt about it.

or a small town, I live in a wide spot in the road. we don't even have a traffic light, only a 4 way stop @ the main intersection downtown.

Yeah, the "Family" will be growing, so we're going to need to find a bigger place. The Boy wants to get a place with a mom & pop addition. He's afraid if he puts us in the garage, I'll screw with his stuff. I would.

$1200 a mo - nice neighborhood. house? good size but.. mold outside all over, dumpy yard, inside roof leaks, black mold on wall by fireplace, smelly, grout missing everywhere, rust on ac intake vent, bugs. realtor was owner... a self professed Christian..touts this on his website...former director of board of realtors. looks at mold growing on wall inside by fireplace says 'guess we'll have to paint that'! seriously? paint over mold? you want 1200 for a run down piece of crap with 70s appliances and MOLD!!!! so much for Christian stewardship. big waste of time...disappointment.

$1110 a month - offered by current property manager. mold inside and out. illegal aliens living in it with extended family. stinks like livestock. broken doors. broken blinds. stains on carpet. bugs. leaks in roof. rusted ac ducts. moldy bathroom grout. busted toilet.

these are just the highlites of our searching. add to it:
realtors who refuse to answer emails.
realtors who don't return phone calls.
realtors who don't remove already rented properties from their websites.
realtors who expect you to be available at their beck and call for showing and wont set appointments. 'Im very busy.. i'll call you when I can show it'
realtors who list houses that are unfit for human habitation.
realtors who list the square footage and then when I check with the property appraisers website I see they added: garage, porches, patios to square footage to pad it. so a 1500 sq ft home for $1200 turns out to be a $1080 sq foot home in the end.
fraudulent listings on places like craigslist or placebee.
ppl who buy a house they cant afford then lease it and expect the renter to make their mortgage payments plus give them extra for good measure. they forget that everything is public in florida and I can see exactly who owns a home, how much they paid and when, code violations, lis pendens, etc....

god I am so tired of this. I dunno maybe I expect too much of ppl... like honesty and fair play. I understand realtors need to make money... but for god's sake don't list a home you wouldn't rent to your mom and expect someone else to pay for it! my wife an I are archetypical caretakers. when we moved into the house we currently rent, we fixed so much stuff on our own expense.. replaced busted parts on microwave, replaced insulation on ac lines, grouted around tubs and toilets... had the ducts professionally cleaned.. had the laundry dryer duct blown out.. reported potential fire hazards with bad wiring.. we don't have pets or kids and I am cjis certified for my job ... and yet we just cant seem to find a home or reputable realtor. (smashes head on desk)

I know its just a matter of time but geez.. I mean... wow... seriously?

Most salespeople are charlatans (sorry to anyone on The Borg who is in sales).

But the simple fact is, the incentives they're given turn them into sociopaths who only care about getting that signature so they can get $$ in their pocket. And the bigger the ticket, the worse their ethics suffer.

I hope you can get this resolved soon. House hunting and home buying are nerve-wracking experiences, but often things just fall into place at the last moment. I hope that's the case for you.

know what you mean about fixin' a rental place up on your own dime swmbo and I were the same way. if we could afford the material we'd fix it. if we couldn't afford it ,we'd tell the current LL and he'd buy the material and usually give us a couple months free rent for doing the work.

11 - 1200 a month? Wow, our house payment is only 1200, we will own it in 6 more years. Food for thought.

I hate salesmen/women with a passion. Ya wanna have some fun? Go with me to a car stealership.... I've been thrown out of a few the last few years.... LOL
