Got a fever to brew
Haven't brewed in 3 weeks and today and tomorrow would be perfect weather. I just can't drink all the beer I have. Such world problems I have.
But, next week I will with likely not as good weather. I literally crave brewing and it's in my thoughts all day long.
I think I'll join the local home brew club in March and start taking some beer to the meetings so I can not only get some good feedback but get some drank and make me have to brew more.
I also think I might brew a batch soon after next week and bottle a good amount of it. Though it's a chore, I think I need to get that 'work' feeling to some brewing every now and then and bottling while drinking can be therapeutic. Just have to get some more bottles.
With the heat only a few months away for us, I need to get in as much as I can before it really feels like work.

I know how you feel buddy. It's been 6 or 7 weeks since I brewed last. It's killin' me too. And because our schedule is so full, it's going to be another two weeks until I can get another batch done. The weather here has absolutely sucked for brewing. It's just been too damn cold outside. It would take forever to get 7.5 gallons of wort to boil, never mind holding the mash temp for 75 minutes.

Sorry I'm late to the party guys, I was pouring myself a beer. What'd I miss.
Was right there with y'all. Why do you think I brewed in the snow Thursday, with a never brewed on before electric system AND I brewed another Sour that I won't bottle for a year.
JONSEN for brewing I was.

As I can't add anything to your Superman abilities to brew in any weather I would like some clarification.
Is that JONESing or JOHNSONing? There is a difference. If you don't know it, then you'll need to call me to explain.

You are a very dirty man and should put down the beer and quit while you're ahead.
In fact, I think I'm a dirty man too so I'm headed to the shower to wash my mouth out.

Jonesen, Jonesing, 220, 221 what ever it takes.
Tell ya what I will do. I'll go pour another beer, go to Advanced Equipment and start a thread on the electric system.

readin' this , makes me glad I didn't start this hobby/obsession 'till after I was "retired" and mostly have nothing but time for it.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: Got a fever to brew
I know what you mean, Paul. After work yesterday, I changed my clothes quickly and raced to my LHBS, because they were predicting more snow (and I was driving in snow, actually, but it didn't amount to much). Thing is, I NEEDED ingredients so I could brew today (Sunday). I was going to start a separate thread, but I might as well hijack yours.
We work alternate Saturdays at my job. The other guy who covers this county works the opposite schedule from me, so the county is always covered on Saturdays. But we've agreed to switch Saturdays if one of us asks, because we're good guys that way. This weekend was his birthday, so he asked me to switch. So I've worked 12 of the last 14 days, in really crummy conditions (snow up to my knees in some spots).
I'm tired. My pipeline is depleted, causing me to buy commercial beer and/or drink slightly green homebrew.
Even though it's a quick extract with steeping grains and hop boil, today's brewing is my therapy. I need a couple of hours to stop and smell the hops. I need to do this in the most selfish way, and I'm not apologizing for that.
