The awards ceremony for 2014 Midwinter Homebrew Competition was this past Saturday night; I couldn't make it there, but our own oly was probably there and should be able to report! Competition results and scores were posted shortly thereafter, and while I don't have the scoresheets yet, I'm happy to report the following:
Out of 4 beers I had entered (as 6 entries), here are the results:
- Simcitrillo IPA - 25 (as American Pale) and 28.5 (as IPA) - I really want to see the scoresheets, since I submitted it for ideas on how to improve it, as I was not happy with this latest batch.
- End of the Empire Oaked RIS - 33.
- Aurora Baltic Porter - 33.5, advanced to mini-BOS, did not place this time.
- Ctrl-ALT-Del Altbier (my RCE with T8rSalad) - 36 (as Dusseldorf Alt) - 3rd place, and 40 (as Specialty Beer) - 2nd place.
My Altbier was not completely to style in Dusseldorf Alt category, so I entered it in Specialty as well, and it looks like the judges thought the same. This really shows the importance of proper category placement - and two medals are better than one!
Can't wait to see the scoresheets!
