going crazy

So I got the mr beer kit for christmas (like a lot of others I think) and have since acquired a second lbk and both are fermenting away. I have also gotten more bottles, refill kits, and misc. brew utensils (hydrometer, autosiphon etc). After ordering the second lbk and some bottles, Mr Beer decides to have a scratch and dent sale (going on right now) for a premium kit which has your lbk, 2 refills, and bottles. I had a 20% off code and couldn't resist so I ordered it up. I guess I can keep an ok rotation going with this for now. I plan on splitting some 5 gallon recipes in the future so having the extra lbk's will help out. I don't think the wife is very impressed with me right now......

wait til she starts drinking the beer you make. as long as your obsession isn't eating up the family funds she should encourage you. a hobby keeps you honest! and... you learn stuff to keep your mind sharp. I have never done so much math before I started brewing!

Yep, you've got a fermenter on your back. Pretty soon you'll be on the corner asking people: "Spare $2.99 for some hops? Help a guy out!"
I know you think you can stop any time you want. That's what I thought in those halcyon days only a year ago. Just one more LBK, then I'm good. But the voices of temptation are all around. "All grain" they tell you, "It's better on grain". Then there are kegs, lagering, barley mills, better pots, even better glasses! It's insidious. Run! Run for your wife!

I remember that initial crazy stage. SWMBO started to get annoyed when she kept opening cabinets around the house and there were fermenters or bottles in various stages of conditioning. That initial stage of crazy will soon be replaced by another. Could be all grain, kegs, starting a club, opening a LHBS, but I'm sure I don't need to give you any ideas...

The solution to the SWMBO "problem" is to have one of these show up. Believe me, she will no longer notice the LBKs.

mregione, you are off to a good start, 3 LBK's work good in the rotation, and when you do start buying 5 gal kits you can still use your LBK's. I have 4 LBK's but use only 2 of them for brewing now once and a while, the other two I use to store star-san. You are on the right tract but on your way to a train wreck of brewing :) enjoy the ride.
