Going to be in North Carolina next week. Any regional brews that I should look for while I am down there? (from North Jersey)

Asheville, NC seems to be the hub for beer and breweries in the state. Highland Brewing is a notable one.

Ahh... Asheville is in the mountains, so not likely a place you'll come across.

OK...the reason I was asking is that there is a grocery store in Southport. I think it's a Lowes Foods. They have an outstanding build your own six pack section. I was down there in June and built two 6 packs of stuff I've never heard of and/or stuff I can't get.

Food Lion has a build you own 6 pack.
I scored to Fat tires ( will try today for the first time ). Grab a few frame local breweries. Natty greenes, sweet water , and grab a 6 pack of carolina blonde cream ale.

I do really love SweetWater's 420 pale ale, and they've got a hefe that's supposed to be really good too. Fat Tire was tasty, but I like the Sunshine Wheat better. Hope you have a great time in NC!

I hade the sweetwater 420 last night (I have another one too ) it was good, first taste has a bite but really smooths out after that and goes down nice.
