Hi,
I use .5 liter pet for my beers and am pretty good about rinsing out the trub as soon as I pour a beer. I then leave water in the bottle and the shake again and rinse again later before putting away for re-use.
I want to do a soak just to make sure I'm not letting any nasty stuff build up and cause an infection.
Is B-Brite dissolved appropriately what I could use for soaking ? I have a tub of it that I got awhile ago and figured a good soak and rinse would work fine.
is this the stuff to use, or is there something else ?
thanks in advance,
Mike

It will work, but is likely overkill. A Oxiclean Free solution will also work.

Thanks RickBeer.
I ran out of oxyclean-free, think the wife has been using in the laundry.
will have to pick so more up, but since I had the B-Brite, I used it.

I'll just mention that filling them up to about 1/2" from the top and topping up with bleach and letting them sit for a couple hours does wonders when nothing else works to get a film buildup off. You just need to rinse them well and make sure they completely air dry before using them after. I do this with my 740ML PETs sometimes.

ive got a couple of those pet bottles with that "film" ive tried everything i could think of.....except that bleach idea wonder if it will work for me?

Re: B-Brite and PET bottles
fwiw I had the "film" problem in my glass bottles. It was the cause of a whole batch of gushers! after the bad batch I noticed all my bottles had a film in them fortunately all I needed for glass was a bottle brush and some elbow grease. the only point to my story is; the film can lead to unfortunate consequences. (cost me 2 cases of infected beer)
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
