Romancing the Beer

Not the biggest competition in the world, but I try to enter the local contests to get valuable feedback.
Darned if I didn't take best of show at a local competition with my Cream Ale. Pretty psyched when I read the news. Entered it last year and took a red ribbon for the lite hybrid category, took the advice in the scoresheets, made some changes, brewed it a few times over the past year, and apparently they liked it
Also placed in the lager category with my Agave Mexican Lager and in the specialty category with my Black IPA/American Black Ale/Cascadian whatever you want to call it. Highly intrigued to get the scoresheets in a few weeks to see how they stacked up.
Not exactly like winning the AHA or anything crazy, but it's nice to get some local recognition.

Thanks all. I didn't post this looking for a bunch if cyber high-fives, but rather to point out what a great tool these contests can be. Get the feedback, adjust accordingly, and your beer will only get better. Great resource. If you haven't entered one, do it!
Thanks for the kindness, but the truth is that without this Borg I'd still be brewing crappy beer with a can opener and a sauce pan, so I view it as a team win

Congratulations!
And I agree 100% with your approach to competitions being a gateway to learning how to brew better beer. This is a valuable lesson for all homebrewers. Enter competitions, folks! It's not the bling or the kudos that are important (nice as they are). It's the knowledge you gain that will take your beer to the next level.
