A nice orange color with a nice head. The aroma seems to be all Columbus hops....imagine opening up an ounce of Columbus and taking a big whiff, well, that's pretty much what it is. The bitterness is really nice, it's not that big IPA punch, just a nice balanced bitterness. Surprisingly the grapefruit is kind of subtle for me. With a name like Grapefruit Slam, I would have thought I would be drinking something close to grapefruit juice. But it's not the case. The grapefruit part comes through really late. Almost in the aftertaste. It kind of crawls back up the tongue, which is what grapefruit does for me.

Overall...it's a really nice IPA. Another well made IPA by Stone Brewing.

Still not available here though Stone says it is. I have to go hunting for this. Like I need more beer.

Ok...my tasting card has just been revoked. After emptying the bottle I read the back. The hop varieties in this beer are Centennial, Chinook, and Magnum. There is NO Columbus in this. So....I humbly will remove myself from any future tastings. And all of you are hereby ordered to ridicule me to no end. I guess I am not qualified to detect hops in a beer.

No worries from my end Chris. I just spent the last two days stewarding for a competition, even with me tasting the beers as the judges TOLD me what I was tasting, I still couldn't get it sometimes.

Though I am looking forward to trying my Slam now.

Pack up all of your beers and ship them to the Borg Redistribution Center.

I laugh because it's nice to know that I am not the only one guilty of that. There are times I SWEAR I know which hops are being used - and then I'm wrong.

Looks good and tasty, though. I love that orange color for an IPA.

Guess you'll have to just send me all the beers you want tasted and I can give you my opinion......right or wrong.

FYI, the Borg Redistribution Center is located in Metairie, La. I have agreed to provide the EXACT address to anyone who needs to send to me. Due to the nature of this business, it is not suggested that I share this address en masse.

So....I stop in one of my local liquor stores today to pick up a drink and happen to notice that they have significantly enhanced their craft beer selection. They now have a full shelf of bombers, although they aren't chilled. Maybe I will talk to them about that on my next visit.

In any case, I didn't have my phone with my to show the selection but I'll be back and will grab a picture next time. What they did have was this beer so after hearing you guys yapping about it, I picked one up.

Will drink soon.

I was SO CLOSE to getting this today...had it in my hand but put it back and opted for a Kriek and a Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout instead.

I'll have to go back and grab one...

The smell is HEAVENLY. Tropical, lemony/grapefruity and just purely wonderful. I love it. The color was brilliantly clear dark yellow/hint of orange.
Great head in the tulip glass that really brought the aroma front and center.

The first taste was very crsip and grapefruit-forward (shocking, right?). It finished very dry and very bitter on the tongue. A few more laughs and a few drinks later (we split the bomber) and I actually couldn't drink anymore. The bitterness and tartness became cumulative and too over-powering for both of our tastes. I was sad because I could literally smell this beer all night and almost get high from how wonderful it smelled but the lingering and dryness on the tongue was too much for me.

If you are a grapefruit fan or a Centennial fanatic I'm sure this beer will be right up your alley.

Interesting....so I think your telling me that all that wonderful aroma that I thought was Columbus is actually the Centennial? It sure does have an amazing aroma.

Still searching for this. Should have it in the next week. I'm sure I'll like it, just don't know if I'll love it.

IMO, a solid fruit IPA. Balances the citrus of the hops with what the grapefruit peel brings. I had been told that this isn't just Stone, but a revolving door collaboration where another brewery will step in on the next release with stone and so on. I wonder if the Stochasticity moniker will stay.
