temp controlled fermentation

ok so im looking in to lagering without breaking the bank

im know im gonna need a temp controller and some type of mini fridge

looking for a way to do this on a budget also want to do this in a 1 gallon batch


so questions are...... how can i do this on the cheap? also is it ok to do a lager a 1 gallon batch in a lbk

and lastly could use 1 lbk for primary and trasfer to another lbk for secondary

Well the first thing I see is that you are looking at fermentation temps " on the cheap" so not knowing how you are managing your ale temp controls I'd suggest trying some temp control experiments with plain water in your fermenters and see if you can find a way to keep them steady with what you've got now.

The next, and the folks who do lagers will chime in I hope is that you recognize that time and procedures differ greatly between ales and lagers so it may be more than your fermentation control that changes for those batches.

Maybe you could get to a point where you do a Cali Common or Kolsch first and adjust accordingly?
