The Devil you say?

Was in town the other night and saw a bottle of Jack that looked interesting. Has anyone tried Jack Daniels, the Devils Cut? I picked up a bottle of it, but a small bottle was a little spendy! Could have gotten a big bottle of my beloved Crown but thought what the heck. I have not tried it, kinda bought it as a novelty item. Someday will crack it open. Anyone like this stuff?

I've only seen the advertisements on tv for it.

Do you mean Jim Beam Devils Cut ? If so, I have had it and it is a good bourbon. I prefer Wild Turkey 101 though.

Yes, it is Jim Beam. And I liked it fine. When I'm not drinking beer I'm drinking bourbon or scotch. It's not bad for a major distillery. In my mind it's like Miller trying to break into the craft market with their new "Fortune" beer.

So now you've got me thinking about bourbon. This is what I'm having tonight. I think I liked the Devils cut better than this.

My bad, Jim it is. Sounds like a good spirit then.

Is this best sip'n, or mixed with pepsi? I take my crown in da rocks, it's best that way.

The best way to enjoy a good whiskey is at room temp, no ice but with a splash of cold water to open it up a bit... At least, that's what I find is the best with my Crown...

With bourbon, I prefer sipping it neat at room temp, in a rocks glass... No ice, no water.

YMMV.

If you EVER put anything other than ice in your bourbon God will strike you down and dogs will gnaw on you carcass!

As far as the Devil's Cut goes; I liked it. Actually I like it more than the Black. But still, for the money, I've yet to find a bourbon that I like more than just plain, old Jim Beam. There are some that definitely are better but for the difference in price they're not that much better. Maker's Mark is a very good example of this. It's pretty darn good bourbon but it's soooo much more expensive than Jim.

+1 to this. I like my bourbon neat. Occasionally I will throw in a whiskey stone to chill without watering down, but most of the time it's room temp with a good book.

LOL, was just askin about the soda, I don't do that. I think it ruins a good bourbon. Y'all will probably hate what I do with mine then. I drink it straight in a glass, very rarely over ice. Since I don't share my crown with anyone, alot of times I'm just drinking out of the bottle. Does that make me a wino? I store my bottles in the freezer. I like mine chilled straight in the glass. I also keep my schnapps in the freezer. A couple swallows of peppermint in the afternoon heat cools a guy right down. Try it, you'll like it. Try some cinnamon 100 proof in the freezer, it's like, well, sweet and sour pork. Goes in nice and cool, then bang, the heat hits you. Quite the eye opener, great for winter months.

No need to worry, I would rather be drawn and quartered than ruin a good drink with soda, it's a sin in my book. But your a little late, the hound dogs are already eatin away at my sorry butt.

Now I do have some Johnny Walker Black (Nasty stuff. Look at my tag line.) that I have to add water to just to make semi-fit to drink . I am a shameless scotch snob and if it's not single malt I won't buy it. This was a gift from my "unenlightened" father who wasn't about to spend $100.00+ for a bottle of scotch when there was one he'd heard of for years two or three shelves below it for less than $50.00.

Actually, as I typed this, I thought of an excellent use for the Johnny Walker; I'm going to use it in my air-lock. Thanks, Dad. :laugh

I'm right there with you. I used to have a bottle on hand for each of the regions or styles of scotch. I'm down to my lone bottle of Lagavulin.
