Mesh Bag and Siphon

Can I attach a mesh bag to the siphon to filter out the hop leaves/seed things in the fermenter, so they don't end up in the keg or clog my siphon? I am wondering if this would oxygenate the wort..

It wouldn't airate the wort if you used it on the pick up end, or if it was under the wort on the recieving end. You just don't want it splashing around...

I've tried this with an autosiphon. I found that it slowed the flow significantly, and tended to suck air past the inner seal on the autosiphon. I've read that you can fill the outer tube with water, starsan or wort to prevent this. I would try a practice run in water or some mixture. I find that using a clip to hold the bottom of the siphon just touching the trub helps. Let us know how it works out.

I agree with this statement.
For maximum filter coverage I zip tie (yes zip tie, sanitized of course) a muslin sack to the end of the tube going in the keg or bottling bucket. I leave at least 3-4 inches dangling from the end of the tube, this gives plenty of filtering without clogging/slowing flow.

I've done it exactly how Inkleg has described with great success.

Good to hear. I may have used a tea bag. Muslin is better.
