This is a pic of our first wheat beer; it was a recipe we got from someone at the local home brewers' club.

We scaled it to a 2.67 gal. partial mash w/ late extract addition (extra pale LME) from a five gallon all grain.

It turned out very good but I was wondering why it is so clear? Aren't wheats supposed to have some haze?

Oops Edit to add: it was 2 lbs. 8 oz. White Wheat, 6 oz. Munich and 2 lbs. LME

Depends on how much wheat you put in. Plus, there's a lot of other factors as to how cloudy/clear your brew turns out. Looks good to me. Enjoy! :barman:

The wit beer I'm drinking is really clear. But you can always pour 3/4 of the bottle into the glass then swirl the bottle and pour the rest in. In fact, if you read the label on Hoegaarden, it actually tells you do this.

It looks like a well brewed beer.

I'm with them. I made a Belgian Wheat from a Brewferm HME. It's clear and tasty.

Thanks guys, I was a little puzzled by the clarity but glad to see it is common and also okay.

This is a tasty brew, he had honey in it and hopped it with some Galaxy and Cascade so he probably was aiming for style so much as pleasing his SWMBO.

If you use a bunch of unmalted wheat, maybe some unmalted oats, and a powdery low floc yeast, IE a true WIT beer grain bill with up to 60% unmalted stuff - then you can get it really cloudy. If you use malted wheat and high floc yeast it can clear quite nicely as you see. Gymrats beer is white wheat I think - which is a malted wheat.
