I don't know where to put a recipe

Post by Brewbirds »

Okay I went to town this morning but said I would post a recipe when I got back (actually I don't know how my brother will as soon as I tell him).

It isn't a SMaSH because there is a late extract addition so does it go in advanced?

I really don't feel qualified to post in the advanced section but also from the forum standpoint don't know how to decide where a partial mash or late extract w/ hop stand should go.

Is there a general guideline you guys use when you post yours?

BTW the original inquiry started in the hops section but I didn't think adding recipes there was appropriate.

nothing says you can't put it in the advanced.
If it's just extract, I'd pop it in the basic.
If it involves grains, you can pop it in the advanced.
That is, unless Louie wants to open "a free for all brewing" catagory for the undecided...
The Nong Brewery defines "Fermentation" as: Making "Rot" a Good Thing

Well see the advanced section says "share all grain" and the basic says "share extract" buuut there is a dedicated section each for the MB and BD guys.

Oh and to make matters worse our partial mash with late extract addition are also pseudo BIABs.

Now do you see why I don't know where to put it.

Oh heck maybe I should just PM the guy. DOH

Maybe we need a PM / BIAB section?

I'd use this guideline:

Are you mashing?
1. Yes - Advanced
2. No - Basic

Just post it wherever you want. No one is that much of a purist here. Relax and have a homebrew!

We got a biab section

Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I ended up putting it in advanced but my point was I wasn't sure how get it to "the target audience" .

Most of the stuff in Advanced is for the AG guys sharing their newest batches.

There already is a place for just MB and one for BD.

And the BIAB seems like an AG BIAB.

The Basic was filling with MB stuff.

Any way there isn't a lot of content yet so I was trying to put it where newer brewers would find it in the "right stage of advancement".

Does that make since? I mean we have categories but if some of us just put recipes any old place it seems like it would be very confusing.
