New Brewer

I just started drinking my first brew from MB, and I have to say I was excited to brew my first beer! However, after tasting the first bottle I was a little let down. But then after reading so many posts that suggest patience, I waited a few more weeks and let it sit and then even more in the fridge it has improved greatly. My MB kit came with the Aztec and Czech and my first was the Aztec. To me it seems a little flat. But it is drinkable and am satisfied with it and didn't expect to take down any major breweries on my first batch. Being a rookie, I really expected to spit it out after the first drink.
Anyway, I hope to improve my technique and become a seasoned veteran In the future. Just glad there are so many here that have paved the way and give good advice. Cheers

Welcome! Make sure it's at room temp for 4 weeks in the bottle. Aztec isn't very good, better at 8 weeks.

Welcome hopsnhoses! Patience is a virtue. Some of the old basic kits were best for me after about 8-10 weeks conditioning at room temp, then another week in the fridge. Long time to wait, but gives you plenty of time to drink some excellent craft beer and harvest the bottles for reuse!

Welcome hopsnhoses!

Glad you made it to the beerborg!

+1 on time.
Wait 4 week till you put a few in the fridge.

The Czech Pilsner is my favorite out of 4 or more that I tried.
Keep brewing, and if you have problems, post away

Welcome. Follow the advice here, and you'll be making fine beer in no time. That Pilsner is much better than the Cerveza (imo) so I expect you'll be even happier with your next batch.

Awesome. I do believe that I am already hooked as I have been scouring the web looking for other sites to buy from besides amazon and MRB. I don't have a LHBS in my area (closest is 2 hrs away) so
I'm always looking for deals. I've already clicked the links rickbeer posted.
Thanks for the advice

MB has some sales on every so often, so that is the time to stock on up.

Also check out the members only subforum.

Brew Demon has a 20% off coupon.
Have not tried them yet, but other can chime in on BD

If you have a LHBS 2 hours away don't rule them out completely that may still a cheaper shipping charge than the others since you need to order your stuff online.

A full week in the frig makes a big difference too. I have saved one bottle of my first MAC that brewed in June. I am hoping to open it next summer! Keep brewing, find what you like, hops, darker, fruit ect...
