Wild Spirit IPA Plus

Post by BrewDemon »

This was given to us by the BrewBubbas

They used our 2 gallon Wild Spirit IPA Signature Series refill, then made a tea from 1/2 pound of Crystal 20 and dry-hopped with 1/2 ounce of Centennials.

Mmmmm makes for a great IPA!

Makes sense. Sounds good. For dry hopping, Cascade would work as well, too. Or Williamette ... aroma ....

BTW is that the good 'ol ADIPA??????????

Can you tell me if these are the exact same malts as when it had a 'different name' on the label? I understand they are from the same malt company in NZ but I'm curious if any have been reformulated or adjusted when rebranded. Specifically, the American Devil/Wild Spirt.

Thanks

BTW, it really is becoming pretty clear to me that Cooper's blundered. The should have not just bought MrBeer, but also bought the company that made MrB's extracts, or at least kept doing business with them, and left the old selections .. If they gained their extracts market share that way, it would have held ...

I've always been very happy with MrBeer as a company, but I have no qualms about getting some of my old favorites from BrewDemon. I mean hell, if they had the insight to get old favorites like Wickett, Pilothouse, English Nut, etc. etc. made up again, packaged the same old way, which many people liked ... good for them. Seeing the cross reference of the new names to the old really drives home that instead of being disloyal to MrB, who is really Coopers now, it could also be said that you're being loyal to the old company that made your favorites, and to the new company that had the insight to setup and distribute them.

That being said, the cooper's stuff is good ... I'm not saying its not. But, you know what I'm saying.
I do miss the English Nut Brown, as it's better than any Brown I've ever tried making from grain or LME ... and better than any brown I've otherwise tried. Same with Pilothouse Pilsner ... just the right blend of malt types and nelson sauvez hops. Why wouldn't I want to treat myself to that again?

Interesting, that's all I'm saying. Very interesting.

LouieMacGoo can chime in, but it looks like they would be the same. The malt company had the recipe/processes in place, and they were popular. Why market something different at this point ... their attraction is that they're old favorites at this point, I think. Can always add different stuff later?

These are the same HMEs and UMEs as the old Mr. Beer recipes. No reformulations or changes. The only thing that is different is that the booster packs are gone and replaced with a liquid Brew Enhancer.

You can read more about it here http://www.beerborg.com/index/2013/01/a ... brewdemon/

Louie's right. I had a conversation with Sam at BrewDemon when the BD first started selling their wares. I ordered a YODNBA, WSIPA and a TMW based on the fact that they were the same malts that had been MrB products. I've made the Nut Brown and the Twisted Monk and they are, indeed, the same.

If BD ever starts shipping to Canada I will definitely be ordering some Rogue Devils Deviant Draft. One of my favourite homebrews used the old MrB High Country Canadian Draft as a base. If this is the same thing then I would love to get my hands on some!

I certainly will be ordering some Wicket when I exhaust the stock I got during the clearance sale. Easy peasy for making my peanut butter version I keep in rotation for SWMBO. As long as I keep that in stock she doesnt complain <too much> about my addiction.

This list came out in December of last year when BrewDemon first launched. Anything with (2013) at the end was anticipated to be available this year. If you don't see them on the BrewDemon website they aren't yet available. Hopefully Sam will be able to give us an idea when they will be available!

Thanks for the cross reference! I got into brewing after the Coopers switch. But I bought an older kit locally and brewed ADIPA. I think it is my favorite HME. I've already ordered the Wild Spirit.
