Myhorselikesbeer's Porter

With our RCE beers shared, I was lucky enough to get some of Ed's Porter. I should have had this by now but I have so much beer and have to watch my gut.
Tonite was the night but I forgot to take a picture. :(
But, it was an excellent beer! It poured with a 1/2 finger head, nice and dark and smelled of light chocolate, vanilla and I almost noticed a tiny bit of cinnamon. Yum!

The taste was definitely porter. I had notes of chocolate and toasted malt with some very mild roasty notes. It ended semi-sweet. This is a very, very fine Porter. I have to make some because I like dark beers. :)
OK, when a beer is good, I try to find something I can knock because I'm OCD. For me, this might have been slightly over carbed. But I do like my dark beers lightly carbed.

Thanks for sharing this with me. After a hard week at work, then coming home and doing the gym thing (I have no life) I walked in the door and went to the fridge and grabbed this and am very happy I did.

Yes just by the description it would make me want to have one right now. If Beerlord likes it I would guess it's an excellent beer.
:clink: Good job Ed :clink:

Thanks Paul, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Did you perceive any coffee flavor/aroma? I am, but maybe I am mistaking the chocolate for coffee. This is one of the beers I submitted to the Brewfest Competition in Manheim/PA RenFaire for next weekend. I hope it is as well liked by the judges as your expert opinion. Everyone that has tried it has thought it well done and to style. I will post the recipe when I get a chance, at work now. I am going to do a Milk Stout next.

Normally I let the beer warm up a bit but I was impatient and drank it pretty fast. I only got the slightest of coffee out of it but I'm thinking that is more noticeable as it warms.
And, I am in no way an expert at anything except enjoying beers nice folks send me.
Best of luck on the competition as well as the Milk Stout!
