Peppers and beer

Post by Photon Brewing »

Havent posted much and havent brewed since September but I come by to read a few times a week. Anyhow, right before mr beer went in the tank and I came here, I made the Chile Lime Cervesa recipe that they had. I bottled it in early October and its been conditioning. I havent brewed because my pipeline just got to big and disorganized and I needed to deplete it to get a fresh perspective. Im down to 4 cases from 15 and im off the weekend so im intending to get it down to 3 cases and start brewing again shortly. But back to the cervesa; I put a few bottles in the fridgelast week to have for cino de mayo. Didnt get around to it but just had it now.
It was a simple recipe and i did it by the book and used home grown chile peppers. The beer tastes fine and the peppers taste fine but neither seems to come to the party. Its not intrusive in either aspect and I get what was intended but its just very plain and boring. I think hot banana peppers wouldve been a better fit....or just drink a nice pale ale and munching on pepperchinis out of the jar would even work better.

This might belong in the review section but thought Id re introduce myself here.

Welcome back to the Borg, Photon. We have missed your posts. I completely understand your review about the cervesa not that I have brewed it specifically but have done others that just really haven't wowed me. the flavors are are there but the wow factor doesn't hit it.

again, welcome back and hope the pipeline rebuilds soon enough.

Salud.

I'm all for experimentation etc. but I belong to the camp of keeping beer and peppers separate. Munching and washing down....
