Some baking with beer this afternoon...

Stumbled upon this recipe earlier today on the Draft Magazine website. Realized I had every ingredient called for (flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, sharp white cheddar, Dos Perros), so away I went...

Quite tasty. Cheese and roasty Dos Perros flavors complemented well. I'm assuming that this would be good with other beers. Dos Perros is essentially a Mexican lager done as an ale, so something along the lines of Dos Equis Dark (Dos Perros is a lot better than XXDark, but you get the point) or a Vienna Lager would be complimentary... I would imagine Fat Tire or Sammy Boston Lager would be good as well, or a wholly different beer style might be fun to experiment with. I intend to BLT this up tomorrow...

Looks good. I could see BLT-ing it, or even just leaving it as a stand-alone with some butter or brie or Jarlsberg.

SWMBO is the baker in the house, and I doubt we'll be making this any time soon, but that's my loss, I'm sure.

The end result. I realized there was no Benton's in the house, so I had to forego the BLT. But... A BLT of sorts (Burger, Lettuce, Tomato... and onion... and basil... and cheddar. BBLTCO?) was to be had. All kinds of tasty. Paired, of course, with a Dos Perros.

The bread was also great with garlic and herb spreadable cheese. The recipe is so super simple. Just mix the dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, baking powder) with the shredded cheese, and then slowly stir in the 12oz beer until all parts are moist. Then into a prepared bread pan, and into the 375 oven for 45 minutes. Couldn't be easier...
