Pat Myself on the Back
Grocery shopping last Thursday saw GLBs Wright Pils on the shelf, thought to myself, hmm I can try my North Port Pils (done with Ale yeast instead of Lager) against theirs and just see flavor wise where mine was. Then I thought why not do some blind tastings with some friends out at the campgrounds. 3 of the 4 guys I had try, picked my Pils over Great Lakes Pils and the 4th said they were to close to tell! Now I get a long weekend, starting tomorrow, to share another Brew, a remake of MO Freedom with a slight tweak in the grain bill, that I'm taking out for a BBQ on Saturday!

ya it feels good when that happens. had a few beers that won the taste test myself the only problem is I'm always brewing more and trying to keep up with the pipeline. not that this is a problem.
Re: Pat Myself on the Back
Terrific! Great Lakes is a good brewery, you did a really fine job to out-perform them.

Thanks, wasn't trying to clone or brew a Pils to taste like someone's brew, just tried to brew a tasty Pils in that style without lagering. May try my hand at a true lager soon though.
