My retirement ride
I will be retiring in 16 months and x amount of days. I wanted to buy a brand new car before I retire. Something fun sort of a hot rod but not extremely so. Anyway I bought this today:
It has the V6 but it is rated at 305 HP. All I know is it hit 80MPH half way up an on ramp (yes uphill) while it was still in 3rd gear (out of 6). The salesman with me looked nervous..but not as nervous as he looked when I checked out the cornering Ford claims it will do 0 to 60 in 6 seconds and 101 in a quarter mile and I believe it. Yet it is rated at 31 MPG on the high way. The car was really loaded and sticker price was $30,000 and some. But with my BNSF discount and rebates I got it for $24,000 and some. I plan on keeping it until my end of days. I will always have some cheap junk car for my every day driver.
The technology in this car is incredible. If I am driving down the highway on a windy day it will sense the wind and compensate as I drive without me even knowing it. I am amazed. I bought extra warranty because I don't trust all that electronic mumbo jumbo not to fail The seats are leather and heated in the winter and I am told they cool in the summer. The rear view mirror senses darkness and goes to night mode automatically. When I open the doors it projects a really cool horse onto the ground. Totally useless but cool. The main thing is once I retire in 16 months, and want to travel, I will have a good dependable and fun car to do so in. And to stay on topic I drank lots of home brew tonight to celebrate.

Sweet ride! Congratulations.
And congrats, also on your retirement. I'm jealous, since my job is fairly physical, and just about every day I say to myself that I'm getting too old for this sh#t. But I'm at that awkward age; too old too keep working and too poor to stop.

That is a sweet looking ride. Technology has changed so that you don't need the big v-8's of the 60's. I have a friend who insists that if it's not a v-8, it isn't worthy. When you can get a v-6 with just as much, if not more (depending on car) horsepower, quicker stats, etc. it's a muscle car. Enjoy the ride...

I'm far from being a Car Guy, but even when I was a kid, I recognized the Mustang as one kickass car. Those were the classic 'stangs, of course, and I wish they'd return to that body design; it was just iconic.
But I think the Mustang has always retained its original integrity and has just been updated for the times. That ain't hardly near to being a bad thing.

Re: My retirement ride
That's awesome.....not just the car but that you can retire. I think I will have to die working.
But both me and my wife need new cars. Mine is 11 years old and hers is 16.
Can I have your job?

Nice ride!
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
Edgar Allan Poe
