I messed up

I meant for my first hop addition to be at 15 minutes. I hope I didn't give this Saison a bitter bite. I went by the timer on beersmith so this was the schedule. I wonder if it would help to add a pound of corn sugar after primary fermentation is over.

I doubt it would make a difference but I'm still not sure how even a 12.6% alpha hop in that quantity and times can be 104 IBU's. That just seems high.
First, are your NS hops labeled 12.6% on the pack or did you just use Beersmith's default numbers?
I've not tried to input this recipe into Beersmith but that just sounds a bit high to me with a FW or 60 minute addition.

I plugged in the AA listed on the package

Doesn't seem like a 5 minute difference would be significant at all... If it was me, I would let it ride.

Are you saying you wanted a 15 minute boil, or drop the hops at 15 minutes for a 45 minute boil?

I might call it a Belgian IPA instead of a Saison, but I'd still drink it :)

Just did quickly on Brewers Friend app, 104 IBU with first addition @ 20, and 94 IBU with first addition @ 15. Still @ 20 your still getting more flavor than bitter.

No all times are what is left in the boil. I wanted my first addition to be with 15 minutes left in the boil.

I used 3 ounces in my last Saison and couldn't taste them at all.

The NS I've gotten in the past were potent... Even 1oz late in a 2.5 gallon batch I can taste pretty strongly. I've used them with T-58 and tasted them... T-58 should cover up/tweak flavors as much as Bella would... So that's weird. I have always pretty much used them as a 10-15 minute addition and/or a hop stand, and/or a dry hop. If that matters. Do you know when the NS you used in the past were packaged?

I just tried a sample from my conical. I let it sit in the fridge overnight to settle the yeast out of it then decantered the sample off of what dropped out. It is very crisp, smooth, and refreshing. No bitterness at all. Unfortunately I am still not getting the flavor I had hoped I would from the hops. But it will still be an excellent warm weather beer.

Call it an India Pale Saison? Sure are enough hops for it.

I was hoping it would be a grape saison :)

I kegged this beer today. The hydrometer sample tasted great. It finished at 1.005 making it a 7.1% ABV beer.
