Going to have an incredible weekend. Pretty excited and just want to share.
First of all, tonight I'm heading over my buddy's place to celebrate his birthday. I've got a 2012 bottle of Black Tuesday we are going to open, going to be great! It's easily my all time favorite beer, with the 2012 clocking in at 19.2% it's going to be one hell of a night.
Then I kick off Saturday cutting off my long ass mane of hair that I've had for the past 2 years. I've enjoyed it, but it's time for it to go. Going from this: to this:
But that's just the start. Afterwards I'm heading to the homebrew store to get the ingredients for my third Berliner, and then stopping at a farmers market to get my hands on 5lbs of raspberries. When I get home I'll be collecting the wort from my second batch and bringing it to a boil, when finished I'll be racking my first batch onto the raspberries, and my second batch onto the yeast cake from the first. Then I might head to a local bar to meet this girl I played dungeons and dragons with last night, it was a blast.
After that I can wind down on Sunday and brew up my third batch, it's easy since I'll just be mashing, cooling it to 120, and then forgetting about it for 6 days while it sours. But damned if Saturday isn't going to be busy as hell.

Life is good heh?
Enjoy it all while you can and party responsibly (regarding that 19.2% beer---what a way to kick it all off).

One that was souring got infected...I know why too lol, cuz I forgot about the little airhole in my pot lid and ran out of foil. Genius idea to cover it with a towel, I mean it was a clean towel but...duhhhhInkleg wrote:How ya feeling today? How was the beer?
Not a big loss, I pitched it onto the yeast cake yesterday anyways since I was transferring my first batch to the secondary. Which...is coming along nicely:
It's got a great taste to it as well so it's going to be a winner. Right now i'm mashing my third batch, got foil this time lol. So it should be solid after a week of souring under the heat lamp, then i'll get to bottle this beautiful raspberry beer.
As for the infected one, well, it has a week to get it's act together or it's getting dump. The fact that it has 0 activity today after pitching directly on a fresh yeast cake makes me think it's so acidic it killed them. I mean, it's to the point of where the swallow actually hurts it's so acidic... Not a big loss, about 15 dollars in hops and grains and 5 hours of work.
I realized I need a second airlock too late last night after trasnferring my good beer to the raspberries though. I did a search online and just covered it with sanitized foil, it should be fine it seems. It had a smell fermentation from the fruit so I figured that pushed out the oxygen, though if this primary isn't bubbling soon I might just take that airlock and cover the infected beer with foil since it's already infected anyways.

Haha thanks joe, picture is 7 years old though. I am loving my new haircut though even if I do look a bit older than in that pic.joechianti wrote:Wow. You clean up really good. Very nice.

Ha, I remember the last time I cut off my hippie hair. Every time I would walk by a mirror or a window I would wonder who that goober was who was following me.
