That article is confused. The kind of PET plastic we use in brewing doesn't contain BPA (the endocrine disruptor they talk about / are worried about), and doesn't leach any toxic compounds unless exposed to very high temperatures. HDPE container of high grade, IE the types of containers used to make "No Chill Cubes" for brewing purposes are safe even at very high temperatures.
