This shop opened up somewhat "recently" about 15-minutes from me and I'm the only one of my friends that hasn't made it over there yet.
It's getting rave reviews for the selection, the staff (super friendly and knowledgeable) and their bring-your-own-food policy since they just offer beer and no food.
They have a patio that is dog-friendly and already have done a range of tap-takeovers and special events including the recent Beer Camp takeover this past Wednesday night when they also partnered with a local BBQ place to have dinner delivered.

With any luck I'll be there Sunday night with a buddy post half-marathon. He's running, not me.

Beer Thirty

Nice. I saw Ballast Point and Firestone and was immediately sold. We're 5 years behind the rest of the country but catching up is taking hold and its gonna be fun soon.

With Lagunitas coming your way, that's a HUGE deal. You'll love their stuff (the stuff you haven't had access to yet).

A similar place opened up earlier called Lupulo. They don't have as big of a selection, but at least I've been there - it's where I took my current avatar pic. That was Speakeasy's Vendetta IPA. Yummy.

The best part about Beer Thirty from what I'm told is that aside from the bottles and taps, they do taster-flights which a lot of places that don't brew their own don't do. Cooool.

Barring anything coming up between now and tonight I'm hitting this place up tonight. My family is out of town and I have a buddy to catch up with. Pics to follow!

Aside from the 30 taps they have, they have a pretty good cold bottle selection and a wall of Belgains/barleywines/barrel-aged stuff to choose from. I forgot pics of the taps/menu and wall o' beer, sorry.



To order, you can either order a pint, or grab a card and fill out the name/tap number of the samples that you want and you hand it to the beertender. They pour them, then place them on a tray along with your card so you know which is which. The first flight (5 oz glasses) consisted of:

El Segundo Brewing Citra Pale Ale (outstanding!)
Drake's Brewing Company Alpha Session - (their session IPA at a mere 3.7%. Stop laughing, really. It was great)
Descheutes PineDropper IPA -(mostly Simcoe....very smooth, but not really IPA-ish. I would call it a smooth Pale, but good)
Bear Republic Maibock - (malty and rich, pretty good. Not my favorite style, but I like BR stuff)



Then, the last thing I tried was Maiden The Shade IPA from Ninkasi. We bought the bomber ($6.50, not bad) and split it. It was good. bright, citrusy and floral the way I like my IPAs. Poor review, I know. Like I said, I drank a bit much last night because we followed this with a Double Wheat IPA from somebody and then I had a half pint of Stella later (long story there).



The outside seating is really neat. It's reminiscent of Lagunitas's outside area with rocks, picnic tables to encourage chatting with strangers, tents for shade, a dog area, etc.



While the samples were a bit more expensive than normal, the ability to sample 30 different beers from different breweries combined with the atmosphere makes it a place that I'll go back to. We also spent about 20 minutes talking with the co-owners who are very down-to-Earth and homebrewers themselves.

All in all a fun night out.

Regarding the fountain and the drought, they should connect the pump to the bathroom and let it flow 'yellowish' (you know, beer color) and they wouldn't have to worry about water.
