The conversion to a craft beer virgin

Tonite my son texted me from school and told me he had a crappy (not his words) Lazy Magnolia and that my beer could kick many craft beers butts. He said mine were bitter but full of flavor and aroma. I had to laugh because a few years ago when he lived in the frat house, his fraternity would literally buy Natty Light by the pallet (its an SEC school)........then he said my beer tasted like motor oil.
His friends seem to like it too.
I have to laugh because he's still tasted so few craft beers he's still getting his legs but at least he now knows what goes into a beer and how that differs from what the sheep drink.
My work is not done yet. Gotta take baby sips!

I know the feeling Paul. It took awhile for my son to come around, but he did. Went to dinner with him, the in laws and some of their friends tonight. He swung by the bar to look at the taps (something he had seen me do for many years) and ordered a ESB. I was so proud.
Remember you have literally and subliminally planted the seed through your words and actions all these years.
Give it time, it will grow.

I have successfully converted all three of my offspring form BMC sheep to craft and home brew lovers. My older son lives in NYC and now homebrews himself. My younger son lives on Portland where there seems to be a craft brewery every few hundred yards. My daughter is the one who bought me the first Mr Beer kit, so she is on board too.

You're right about Portland. Other than San Diego, there's more concentration of craft breweries per square mile than anywhere else.

Paul, you're the John-The-Baptist of craft beer.
