So I'm a little cornfused...

 Maybe I'm making it harder than it is. I'm trying to convert my Nervous Nellie recipe to AG for BIAB. I got the conversion factors I need for the Munich LME. But for the DME, I used 3 lb. of Briess Golden Light. What grain do I substitute? Plain old 2-row? 2-row plus crystal something? What makes it "golden" vs. just "light?"

I think the Golden part is just what the Briess uses to describe the color. I don't htink you will find much to it except 2 row and possibly a touch of crystal 10, but majority would be 2-row. I think if you just convert it all to 2 row you will be all right. You can also try searching Briess to see what there DME incorporates. If it isn't there you might find it on homebrewtalk.com.

I put 3lbs of Briess Golden Light DME into BeerSmith and did a conversion to AG. It subbed 5lbs 1.9oz of Pale Malt (2 Row) at 2.0 SRM. Color went from 2.7 to 2.4 with the OG staying the same at 1.027. Personally, I like to use Pale Ale Malt instead (higher SRM of 3.5 so color is a little darker, and not as much DMS precursors to boil off so I keep it at a 60 minute boil). BeerSmith converts your DME to 5lbs 0.8oz of Briess Pale Ale Malt (2 Row) at 3.5 SRM.

Is there an updated BeerSmith database somewhere? Mine doesn't even have Briess Golden Light in there.

I couldn't find anything on Briess' site other than it being darker than Pilsen malt. So, 2-row or Pale Malt should likely do it.

You can download databases as plugins to beersmith to add updated lists of malts, hops, water profiles, and adjuncts.

Here's the spec sheet from their site Amy...

Briess CBW Golden Light DME

As Ron said, looks like 100% Malted Barley and Water...

I can understand the confusion though... The MB Golden LME was wheat based... And maybe others...

But this one is barley based with no additional caramel or crystal malts...

I've always assumed "Golden Light" is 2 row while "light" is Pilsner.
