Did you know there's a beer for every NFL football team? There is, but do you agree with your team's beer of choice?

Personally I think the beer for the Lions is pretty damn good!

Ny Giants = brooklyn brewerys wild streak. while i am not a fan of brett beers i am a fan of brooklyn brewery. after all, i did brew a beer and barrel age it in one of BB bourbon barrels several years ago which turned sour from an infection.

Minnesota Vikings
Their beer: August Schell Brewing Company's Grain Belt Premium
Sure, one of MSP's best taprooms is just around the corner from the stadium (or will be again once the new one opens), but the way to go when watching the Vikings is old school, with the most popular beer from one of Minnesota's best breweries: Grain Belt Premium. This legendary local brew was the official beer of the team back when they won their only championship -- the '60s -- and, unlike the team, this crisp, uniquely flavored lager is still a winner.
YES!!!!!

This is my "go-to beer" when I can't get anything else but BMC beers at the bar. This beer, when it was re-released by the Minnesota Brewery in the early 80s saved my faith in the American Beer Industry.

Chicago Bears = Revolution Straight-Jacket. I've never tried barleywine before, but I'd be willing to give this one a go. The description on BeerAdvocate sounds quite tasty.

49ers = 21st Amendment Brewery's Bitter American

No. Just no.

I understand this was written to be funny but if I were taking this seriously I would name Anchor Steam as the beer.
Why? It's made in SF (as is 21st Amendment) and it has a lot of history. Look back on the history of the 49ers in hte 80's with Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, etc., etc. and you can go back even further to find great players. It deserves a beer that has been around for a while and has ties to SF that go deeper/longer than 21st Amendment.

On top of that, Anchor Steam is widely accepted by a lot of beer drinkers and that culture is key to the city of SF - accepting others, no matter what. It's a very progressive atmosphere and I think Anchor Steam better fits the bill.

I guess if they were going for a poor to middling beer for a poor to middling team, the Tennessee selection is spot on. Not sure if that was the intent though... The true Nashville's beer would likely be something like Yazoo Dos Perros or Pale, IMHO.

Cleveland Browns = Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s Lake Erie Monster Double IPA. The beer is good, but I'm not sure you could refer to the Browns as monsters though. The funny thing is there is actually a Lake Erie Monsters team in Cleveland. It's a hockey team in the American Hockey League, which is the minor leagues for the NHL.

apparently the author of the article doesn't know that Miami has Miami Brewing beers as their official beers on tap at Sun Life Stadium, namely Big Rod Coconut IPA and Shark Bait mango wheat ale. this somewhat irks me, making me think the author didn't actually research any beer but just spat out names of famous breweries (or in this case, a stereotypical Miami drink).

I'm guessing he got a list of local breweries and their beers, and then found names of beers that match the joke he was going for instead of actually trying to name the best beer in the area. I would highly doubt that this author has tasted Bertha Coffee Stout from tiny Fat Bottom Brewery in East Nasty, but the "Fat Bottom" joke tied to offensive linemen was a gimmie. I saw a list last season of best beer to try when you were travelling to NFL cities for games and it was much more serious.

Here it is...

EDIT: Actually, this one is the one I remember...

2nd EDIT: Here's one more, but the TN selecton of a Big River beer over Yazoo is questionable, esp considering they say that it is canned, yet I've never, ever seen it in a can (oh, and also because the brewery chain has been renamed Rock Bottom Brewery). If going for canned local beer, the options are Jackalope Thunder Ann pale ale or Fat Bottom IPA. Well, there is the Tailgate Blonde or IPA, but they are currently out of California, though they are in the process of moving to Nashville.
