American Wheat

Anyone know exactly what American Wheat is? I've seen lots of recipes where they list the grain with the country but can I assume since Beersmith is sometimes confusing, that this is white wheat.......the standard American wheat?

I do know there is an American White Wheat malt and American Red Wheat malt, which I have seen bins of in the LHBS.

That's why I was thinking of white. I'm not sure if the small amount I want to use if it makes much of a difference.......as long as I don't use Red Wheat.
