Too much for 1 pot

I am doing 11 gallons tomorrow and with 26.5 lbs of grain, I need 15.1 gallons of water. Since that won't work and I don't want to mash with a lot less water (which I'm still thinking about) I thought I'd use 2 pots to mash in and then mix the 2 to the proper, pre-boil levels to boil. However, that opens up other possible problems like getting the exact amounts of water in each pot.

So, do you think it's better to mash in with less water at first, mash for the full amount then add some 170 degree in after the bag is pulled or do 1 big mash and 1 smaller mash and mix the two?

The ESB and RBS you have, we're both 11 gallon batches.
For one I held back 2 gallons, the other 3 gallons. At the end of the mash I sparged with that water at room temperature. Why room temperature? Well one reason I'm just to lazy to heat it, two it lowers the grain temp to help with the bag squeezing and three I can't tell any difference in the finished beer, can you?

Nevermind, I figured it out......found my notes from the last time I did 11 gallons so I know exactly what I need to do.

Okay this should really be RickBeer's job but he didn't do it and someone should so....

Oh Moderator(s) we need a place for the Moderators to start threads so they can mumble about when, where, what, why and how their brewing thoughts are going on in there minds and then cancel the thread (thought they wanted to share) in mid-stream.

This does not fit with the :borg: sharing and caring mantra. :huh:

I disagree. I don't think it's worth my time, or yours frankly, to comment on Moderators mumbling about their thoughts. Several reasons:

- some of the moderators have no thoughts
- some of the moderators have thoughts that the rest of us don't want to see
- Louie got 2 new moderators. Either he did that to stop the current moderators from mumbling, or he was so taken by their mumbling he got two new mumblers.
