Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself.

For fathers day my wife was kind enough to buy me a 1 gallon kit from Northern Brewer. The kit came with a partial mash kit, and the first batch turned out great. I quickly was thrown into the all grain world when I ordered 3 more kits and didn't notice they were all grain until they arrived at my door. I gave it ago, made my own mash tun out of a 2 gallon cooler and they turned out pretty good as well.

Over the last few months I have been thinking about brewing larger batches for several reasons, but didn't quite want to step up to 5 gallons at a time. I don't really have the space for the larger equipment either. I had been eye balling the Brewdemon fermenter for a couple of months, but still didn't take the plunge until last week. For a Christmas gift I asked for a couple of all grain kits from Midwest (we celebrated Christmas with the in laws over Thanksgiving this year). My mother in law went to a local brew shop in St. Paul and showed them what I wanted. Instead of making 1 gallon all grain kits, they gave her 3 Brewdemon refill kits telling her they will be similar to what I wanted. When I saw that they were the refill kits I decided to buy the fermenter as well.

The UPS man finally delivered my LBC last night, and my first batch of beer is already fermenting away this morning. Those refill kits are so much easier than all grain, a lot less work, and a lot less clean up. I'm not planning up giving up on all grain all together, but might supplement these refill and extract kits when I don't have the time to do all the work for all grain. Plus I need build a better false bottom on my mash tun.

My fermenter had a card that said if I joined I can get a discount for Brewdemon, how can I receive this discount?

I look forward to gaining more knowledge from the forum

Welcome to the nicest forum on the web! And a great pastime (obsession). The BDC is a great small fermenter for hopped extracts, unhopped extracts (add your own hops and steep grains) or small batches of AG. Have fun, keep us posted on your progress. Where are you located?

Welcome, Doug.

Since it sounds like you've already got an all-grain brew under your belt and you feel that it's a lot of work I recommend that you give BIAB (Brew In A Bag) a try. It's not much harder than doing the extracts, A LOT less mess than traditional AG and you still get all the benefits of AG with being able to select the grains you're going to use and the amounts of each.

Thanks for the advice, I may need to give that a try.

Has anyone used a 5 gallon ingredient kit and split it between two LBC fermenters? I'm just thinking for down the road. I really don't have the space of a large 5 gallon fermenter or carboy, but I could find 2 different places for the two LBC fermenters.

Welcome Doug. I think it is great that you already have a background in all grain, even if that is not how you choose to brew. It is always nice to assimilate someone new and make their uniqueness a part of our own.

Welcome aBorg Doug!

Many of us split batches between LBKs (Mr Beer fermenter) and LBCs. Some do it because it fits in their fermentation chamber easier or they are easier to handle rather than lugging 5 gallons of beer around. Myself, I like to split a base batch to try different hopping schedules or yeasts to get a true side-by-side comparison and really get to know my ingredients and methods.
