I'll never take credit for a recipe that's not mine, Black Island Brewer at HBT posted this. That's about 1 pound of hops (insert Paul Drooling here). Thoughts of subbing the Citra with Simcoe? I have plenty.
For some reason I haven't figured out how to copy from BeerSmith on the Mac yet, to post here. This is what he posted.

Only 1 lb....I think I had a beer with 1 lb 2 oz. :)
Seriously, there is nothing and I mean nothing, wrong with this recipe. I hope this makes it to Music City though we'll have to sip it at 9.7%.
One question though, how'd you get Tacoma water?

I just realized, you add the sugar AFTER the krausen drops?

Yeah this will be made with carbon filtered Gwinnett county water. Like I mentioned, still learning Mac and BeerSmith. Can't seem to copy and paste?
Just went back through it at it's 1 lb 3 oz of hops :p and won't make it to Nashville  , sorry. But I do have your address. :clink:

Yep, after it drops, something new to try.

Change the recipe in the OP to Simcoe over Citra.
1. I have some Simcoe I need to use up.
2. I'm just NOT a fan of Citra.
Brewed Belas IPA on Friday and plan to use some yeast slurry for this beer.

So it this brewed yet or in the future?
I'll pay to get some of this stuff.
I like Citra in late additions and dry hopping. Too much is too much but it can be very good.
Like I said in an earlier post, we all have hops we just don't take to. Simcoe might be my most favorite of them all.

I love Simcoe too much to sub all Citra for it. I might sub some Citra if I was doing it if I had some on hand, but all that Amarillo is going to make it pretty "juicy" already I think, so too much Citra might be a bit whacked. In any case it's going to radically change the taste and aroma of final product if you sub Citra for all that Simcoe. If that's good or not depends on if you like tropical fruit punch.

EDIT: Or I'm confused, and you mean your subbing Simcoe for the Citra in the recipe you posted? Although that would still radically shift the taste from fruit punch to more of the piney/earthy/grapefruit vibe I got no problem with that no matter what :) I think the Amarillo is enough fruit for my tastes.

Removed all the Citra in the recipe and replaced with Simcoe. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

PS, I still have a glass with your name on it, I haven't forgotten.

I hope the winds aloft are pushing north the day you brew this. If they are, I bet I'll be able to smell it!!!

My fermentation fridge smells AMAZING and so does the trash can in the kitchen. Anyone ever hang 12 ounces of wet hops from their shower head?
No activity in the blowoff tube yet, but I'm fermenting at 64* so it won't be blowing the lid off anyway. Did not double crush the grains this time and OG was off by 6 points. OH darn, that will throw off the bitterness scale. ;)

There is 1 ounce of Amarillo, Cascade and Simcoe in each bowl to go in at 15,10,5 and whirlpool. I don't think the one ounce bittering charge of Columbus will stand a chance.

There is still a 6 ounce dry hop to come. So a total of 1 pound 3 ounces. :clink:

Good to see you Bob.
