Picked me up a winter sampler pack from summit brewery........ . edited got my beers mixed up

First beer is the horizon red ipa

A nice dark reddish coppery color and very clear
lots of hop flavor going on... grapefruit and maybe tangerines I taste. it also had some nice lacing was never really much of a hop head but I'm starting to get into it.......as long as its not too bitter and I'm getting some more flavors.

Nice! It looks like a fine beer, and it sounds as if they got a nice balance from some "C" hops. Very cool.

I know what you mean about not being a hop-head. I described myself that way three or four years ago, too. Now, I can drink a Dogfish Head 60-Minute IPA and think, "Nice hops profile! Very refreshing!"

What's the skinny on Summit? Where are they located, and what kinds of styles do they brew?

Summit Brewery is one of my two favorite breweries (being the "homer" that I am and Summit being a Minnesota brewery). I don't much care for their Octoberfest (my other favorite Minnesota brewery makes the absolute BEST Octoberfest in the USA. And they should, being that they're a German heritage brewery.) but other than that I feel they don't make a bad beer. Their EPA - the one you're talking about - is my favorite "go-to" beer. If you have their "Saga" IPA in the sample pack you're about to taste the best IPA on the market...IMHO  .

The second beer was actually the extra pale ale

It was balanced in flavor and had good head and nice lacing and was a lighter copper color definitely a good drinkable brew

The third beer in my review is the Winter Ale. Poured nice and dark like a Cold winter night Had a good head but not much retention. Lots of flavor in this one too I'm getting a caramely nutty cocoa and cola flavor from this one. it's a good drinkable brew on a chilly night

Last beer in the sampler is the true brit ipa

Has a golden color with little bit of lacing and little head rentention and as far as flavor goes getting a hoppy bitterness and again not a bad beer i would try more beer from summit....kinda wanna try the spring sampler next
