Borg Ads

I find it highly ironic that one of the ads that I'm getting at the top and bottom of the pages on the Borg today are for vacation trip to Abi Dhabi or whatever the name of the Saudi Arabian city is. This is, after all, a beer making site and beer contains alcohol and alcohol is highly illegal there. The ad also shows people out on a golf course. I've never seen anyone out on a golf course that didn't have a beer near-by.

Who are they trying to fool? :p :p

Ads are based on sites you visit...

I use Firefox with Adblock Plus, I don't see those annoying ads on any site I go too. I think the program will also work with Explorer also.

Notice that clickable link above?

That could very well be as I was surprised to see a ad for Morris 4x4 Center on top one time. A site I visit for parts and accessories for my Jeep.

Confirmed - they have a version for IE. Works great, I can vouch.

I just installed it. The adds are still there... I gotta shut me system down before it kicks in?
Google is really into it.

If your using google chrome, I have not got a clue. I tried that browser and thought it was the worst one I had ever seen. I shut down and reboot everytime I install new programs and add-ons, alot of times it requires it before it will take affect.

AHA!

I was shopping for gifts for Inkleg and Rickbeer the other day.

My banner ads are for a store called Kilt World Super Center and Amazon Books is trying to sell me a copy of "The Encyclopedia of Sarcasm".

But no. The ads would be for stores that YOU visit like BirdFoodIsUs, To Kill A Mockingbird Cafe', a book at Amazon called "Mr. Clean's Guide to Cleaning Bird Droppings Off Of Everything and Anything", and Rachael Ray's Cookbook "How to Eat Like a Bird".

That explains why most of my ads are brew related. SWMBO does the shopping on her 'puter. The only stores I visit on this one are like hops direct.

I really could care less about ads as I generally buy what I am planning to buy and am not impulsive so they are simply white noise to me. But, remember people like Leigh get a few pennies for someone that clicks through, so if I am on a free site that I enjoy and see something I may be buying anyway (ie browsing a recipe on AIH that I am planning on buying in a few days or next week and it shows up as an ad) I am more than happy to click through and give them a few cents. Pop-ups on the other hand are a different story.
