Sour Ale

Post by jimjohson »

My local brew club (Hopheads of Columbus Ga) met last night for our Secret Santa meeting and one of our professional brewers (Omaha Brewing Company)brought a 5 gal keg of a barrel aged sour (a year in a oak barrel) it was soooo good. I ask, but he took no pics.. I figured after a whole year it would've been real impressive(I tried to get y'all some brett porn).
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

One of the guys at the brew club here did a coffee RIS that he threw in dregs from sour beers and a couple vials of lacto and brett into. It was rich with espresso flavor and aroma, but that sourness hits your pallet and it just flips your mouth inside out! Much too sour for my taste.
