Hi everyone.
This is my first post ever and I am a former computer professional!
I am a traumatic head injury and cancer survivor. I know how to overcome adversity but
not how to avoid it.
Now once again I am having to find out what I want to be when
I grow up. One thing that I decided is I wanted to learn how to make mead. Even after
attending the number one party school in the nation, I still did not like beer until I traveled
Europe. In Germany I would order Weissbier Dunkler Bock. In Ireland I would order Beamish.
I have brewing: Joe's Ancient Orange Mead, Joe's Quick Grape Mead, and Grape Peach Mead
with make shift equipment. For Christmas I got a Brewdemon.

Welcome to the forum.
I've never made mead and rarely drank it but I like your spunk.
Best of luck in your brewing.

Welcome... Looking forward to hearing of your brewing exploits, and don't hesitate to ask a question. No question is a stupid question, and there are plenty of folks who do a wide range of brewing here (including mead) that can answer most any question.

Welcome to the Borg. Hopefully some of the others can chime in with their mead experience. Since it is still 2014 I have to assume you're a fellow hawkeye stater.

Welcome to the Borg EvolvingCaveman! Glad you found us!!
Not a mead guy, so I can't help you there. However, there are lots of great people on here with tons of experience so I'm sure someone will chime in. Ask questions when you need to and keep us up to date on your brewing adventure!

Welcome to the forum!
I haven't made straight up mead for a while, but used to make it, and some maple wine too. (mead made with maple syrup). I found that a no-boil method (heat to pasteurization temps and hold for a while vs boil the snot out of it like some do) produced better mead faster for me. That and adding plenty of yeast nutrients.
