Knee Deep Brewing

Post by BlackDuck »

Is anyone familiar with Knee Deep Brewing out of Auburn, CA?

My favorite beer store just posted that they had three available:
1. Hoparillo Triple IPA; 11.1% ABV, 122 IBU
2. Simtra Triple IPA; 11.25% ABV, 131 IBU
3. Hoptologist Double IPA; 9% ABV, 102 IBU

I'm wondering if it would be worth a stop at the store on the way home from work tomorrow. Any insight on these beers would be appreciated.

Never heard of it but those are some big beers. I'd have to put my big boy pants on to drink those.
Their website shows distribution and other than the west coast, they only distribute to a few states. You're lucky to be one of them.

Never heard of them, but I will be willing to sacrifice my taste buds and try them. I'll PM u my address if you would send me a couple of each of them.

Yep, I am familar with them. The only one of three you posted that I've tried though is the Simtra which I found to be disappointing. I don't have notes for it in my Untappd account but I recall my friend and I not caring for it at all. I also had the Citra Extra Pale Ale and found it to be very harsh.

I've had a couple of their beers as well. Tried the Citra Extra Pale Ale and didn't think it was anything great, I agree it was a bit harsh, on the back-end for me. It was ok but nothing I would seek out or necessarily need to try again. I've also had the Tanilla Porter (got it for Christmas this year!). Again, it was ok, nothing great, nothing "must try", but I tried it, drank the whole thing and wasn't mad about it. It boarders on being overly sweet. Depending on one's palate it could go either way. Nice vanilla flavor, easy drinking but nothing made me want to go find more. I'd drink it again if offered to me.

Thanks everyone....along with what you guys have said and some on line ratings it's decent beer but nothing special. It's interesting that on RateBeer, they all have pretty good ratings, but there is a lot of comments about the alcohol, which isn't a surprise with the ABV levels on those beers. I think I'll still stop into the store on the way home today to see what they've got, but I will probably pass on these.

Thanks again for the help guys!
