MB you have been assimilated...

Take a minute to introduce yourself to the Borg and tell us what's brewing. You can ask questions here too!

MB you have been assimilated...

Post by Brewbirds »

... But I think you are still trying to hide some :borg: units from us. We would like to have BigFloyd, Knightmare, Berryman and Alb, Elko, Charlieb, and windowpane back promptly.

You must comply, resistance is futile.

It is sad. It's a little confusing too. That forum had a life of it's own. It was Mr Beer, but it also wasn't Mr beer. It was a lot more. Not sure if Mr Beer or the forum members benefited more from that, but it's sad for everyone that it had to die out like it did. Thank goodness for the reincarnation we have here. I hope we can recapture here the collective personality we once had there. If this place wasn't here for us, it would have been curtains for sure.

The biggest impact to Mr. Beer is going to be felt in web traffic. Take a look at this picture of Mr. Beer's ranking among sites.
Mrbeertraffic.JPG
Mrbeertraffic.JPG (34.85 KiB) Viewed 3369 times
With over 23% of the traffic to MrBeer.com then going to the forum, and with the forum now barely having any action, it's going to clobber their sales. Most times I went on to the forum there were over 1,000 people, mostly guests. Now there can't be 100.

In addition, the forum provided searchable content for search engine bots to find, boosting Mr. Beer's natural search traffic and therefore generating sales. By nuking the old forum and all the links to it, they lost all that. I suspect they're already seeing a drop in traffic (if anyone is looking), and a resulting drop in sales. Assuming the forum was providing support to prospects and customers which led to incremental business, that likely will also drop. In short, business will be off and they'll be hard pressed to explain why.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

I assume you mean forum and not form. But what else is he going to say? He blew at least $10k on that Sitefinity "upgrade." He has to try to pretend he didn't make a huge screwup if he hopes to keep his job.

He left the post has banned me from posting. I do wish them well. I just do not see how attempting to keep the new brewers from facts about brewing is going to help MR B. I know I would be pissed about that being done to me. I am not going to aplogize for trying to help new brewers.

Once upon A Time in ah alternate universe there was a little home brew company called MR BEER.......................................

Now someone else picks up the story

I tried logging yesterday and couldn't. Maybe they banned me as well, for bashing the forum?

wow you really ticked them off, they only threatened me.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
