My niece is 20. Yesterday she bought her first public beer, legally... in Germany, where the drinking age for beer is 16. Up to now all she has had is sips from my glass/bottle. Aaaaaand.... She likes it! Hey Mikey! Can you imagine having your first beer
in Germany?? She doing her spring semester there. Note the color of this brew, boys and girls. It's DARK. It’s a Luther Bier. No BMC for her. I’m so proud.

She’s in Wittenberg, birthplace of the Reformation, so Martin Luther is everywhere. Statues, beer, everywhere.

She's doing better than the Bhoy-o. He had his first (and last) taste of beer back in September, when he turned 21. I had the privilege of buying it for him.
And drinking it for him.
Oh well....

Are you saying he didn't like the taste of beer? You sound a bit disappointed. I can relate.

Cool story Alb!
Dave, don't give up hope. I didn't start liking beer until my mid-twenties. Now I love it, and make more than most of my friends drink! (No, not collectively!)

Another one lost to the power of the Dark Side.
Congrats on bringing another one into the beer drinking world.

Sorry my comment seems to have caused a thread hijack.
But yes, my son did not like his first taste of beer, but he's a very picker eater, and may even be what is known as a "super taster." He prefers bland food, and won't even use ketchup on his burgers and fries. But he did go through the rite of passage on his 21st birthday, and now he knows what beer tastes like. Whether he comes around to liking it is ultimately his decision to make.

Can you imagine having your first beer in Germany?? No, but the first time I got drunk on beer was in Germany. I was 6, it took a whole 2 beers!!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh................... you are making me want to visit the ole homeland. My Uncle & cousins are begging us to visit. My Uncle lives on the first floor, my Cousin & her Hubby live on the third and the second would be for us. That is what Ullie tells me anyway. Great beer. It is too bad that the tradition of a Brauerei (brewery) in every town, village & large farm has died out.

I'd love to have that beer in my hand right now.

It is a luscious-looking concoction, is it not?
