SuperBowl! What Are You Doing?

Post by John Sand »

Where are you watching the game? What are you cooking? Eating? Drinking?
I'll be at Steve' house. (Remember Steve?) We've been good friends since high school, watched every Superbowl together (less two) since 1979. We always bet a buck on the game (I usually win) ;) and every year now for at least twenty, I make a big chili. This will be the second time I've brought homebrew. This year it will be two or three pales and a blonde. He and his wife put on a great party, box picks for prizes, theme food and decor, plenty of family and friends. I'm excited. And rooting for the Seahawks.

Never mind, there it is.

I might go to my friend’s house and take some brews, but since I have no loyalty to either team I’ll probably stay home and watch the Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet channel. It makes me smile.

SuperBowl! What Are You Doing?

Wife, daughter, & I are going to a friend's event in Puyallup, WA. They bought a brand new home 3 weeks ago (and a new 55" TV). I'm bringing some (3-4) growlers of my home brewed Seahawks Victory Beer to the event. Should be 16-20 people there. I don't expect any Patriots fans to be there!

Just me and BB2 at home and my chili is on the stove as I type. I make it a day ahead because it always tastes better the next day.

No home brew for us :( we'll be drinking SNPA, though I should boycott them for abandoning Ruthless Rye :x .

I'm hoping for a Seahawks win because I think they are the best team player team and seem to work well and support each other.

Oh and Sherman baby- no hurry take your time. ;)

Can we say "promiscuous"? Although he does talk as much as you, perhaps you would be a good couple.

It will be my first day off in about a month, so I will be down in the brew/pub (basement) watching the game while I bottle up 3 LBKs and maybe I'll even make one too. My wife is making a full turkey dinner (although we usually do chili) for the occasion. She just wanted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. I'm impressed and plan on stuffing myself. :)

I, unfortunately, will be sleeping as I have to go to work Sunday night.

But I was listening to NPR this afternoon in the shop. On the "Wait! Don't Tell Me!" show Tom Bodett(sp) made a very humorous prediction; He predicted that in the post-game inteview Seahawks' Running Back, Marshon Lynch (sp, again) won't be able to shut up about meeting Katy Perry after the Half-Time Show.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

We've got a little party going on in Nashville. With a fridge full of beer, and a ton of food.

Beer-lord is making jambalaya.
RedBEERd is making red beans and rice.
Inkleg brought 6 pounds of salsa.
Dawg LB Steve has the cheese and crackers covered
I'm doing a mexican stew with corn chips for dipping.
Swen is just bringing more beer.
And dbrowning is in town but his wife isn't feeling all the best, so we hope she gets to feeling better.

Should be a great time tomorrow.

@BrewBirds, I discovered that there is Ruthless Rye in the 4-way IPA 12 pack mix boxes they are selling.

Anyways, I'm watching the game here with my kids and some friends. Got some Founders All Day IPA so folks don't drink all of my hoppier homebrew, which is currently in short supply and/or conditioning still. Other homebrew folks can have. Will make a bunch of hand made pizza, have dough aging in the fridge.

Loads of friends and family are coming over.

Got a Boston Butt on the electric smoker. Been on there for 9 hrs already!
Gonna fire up the charcoal smoker for three racks of baby backs, and gonna deep fry 10 lbs of wings!
Serving all this with my Amarillo/Citra homebrew, Yeungling, Crown Royal
and whatever anyone else cares to bring to quench their thirst!

Enjoy guys, and be safe! :barman:

I may go over to my dad's and watch the first half with him. It really depends on the weather, since we're supposed to get another snowstorm sometime late today.

Otherwise, I'll stay home and watch it with The Bhoy-o and drink some homebrew. No special food, really, although SWMBO may pick up some deli sammiches while she's out doing the groceries this morning.

I'm going to the Moose Lodge ... free beer (Bud or Coors Light) and open kitchen food available.
Big screens. Whoever from the Lodge is there is there. I may leave to go home at the end of the third quarter.

My wife will drop me off and pick me up. I ain't drivin' home on Superbowl Sunday. No way.
