Some Local Fare

Me and the wife decided to fight some of the early Mardi Gras traffic and trudge down to our favorite pub (tie) and see what local fare we could try. About a dozen choices but I went with a pint of Southern Prohibition Crowd Control IPA (Hattiesburg, MS)...about 7% abv and Great Raft Brewing Grace and Grit imperial IPA (Shreveport, LA) about 8% abv.......The Southern Prohibition won by a large margin....great aroma, nice start and finish, great color and really Southern's best beer by quite a lot.

Seems there are quite a few small (very small) local breweries starting up here so Im hoping things pick up......I'd like to help them find other choices.......

Sounds like some good beers. What kind of local food did you have with that? Boudin, gumbo, pork rinds, crawdads????

Hey, don't stereotype us N'Awlin's guys. We can eat boudin and at the same time, enjoy some tandori chicken. But you are way off on the pork rinds. That's not us at all. You had me at gumbo.

It's not a stereotype....it's 100% pure jealousy...cause I can't get that good stuff up here.

C'mon down. We can brew the Four Kilts Clueless while you're in town.
Nothing to be jealous of though.....come Hurricane season.

Sadly, due to the impending traffic and the throngs of tourists (thank you, keep coming and spending your money here, PLEASE!), we went home and had a home meal.......but I'm not complaining about that.

Man, the stuff you see from 'normal' people gets kinda scary. The odd thing is, its mostly tourists that are doing it because they think that's what the locals do...and truthfully, while some do, it's more stereotype from tv/movies......but still, there are enough strange folk who seem to feel they can 'be themselves' on the streets this time of year.

But at least its only a few running around in kilts
